SAMPLE
POSTCARD MESSAGES
TO
SIGN OR NOT: People
have done everything from signing with initials to putting their return
address. I think return address best,
since you are writing to THEIR home. But
do what feels comfortable.
MY
MESSAGE:
Dear Elector ______:
Please vote on Dec. 19 for the candidate who won the
national popular vote by more than 2.5 million!
It will take courage, but everyone’s vote must count equally in a
democracy.
FROM
TWO PEOPLE WITH LOTS OF POLITICAL EXPERIENCE:
1. Dear
Elector_______: Your action on Dec. 19
is of the utmost importance. Please do
your very best to make a wise choice.
2. Dear Henry
: Congratulations! You are a constitutional officer of the
USA. Please! Vote your conscience. Please!
Vote for the high vote getter.
Bless you.
FROM
ALTHEA'S POSTCARD PARTY:
1. Democracy
is best served by the popular vote. I urge you to vote for the winner of
the popular vote.
2. In
many recent elections the electoral votes don't reflect the intentions of the
majority of voters. Please cast your vote as the popular vote reveals
those intentions, and it will strengthen our democracy.
3. The
voters have made it clear in the popular vote, that the electoral numbers don't
reflect the will of the people. The wishes of the people must be heard.
You have a chance to enhance our democracy by voting as the popular vote shows.
A
VERY GOOD ANTI-TRUMP MESSAGE
Alexander Hamilton wrote that the purpose of the
Electoral College is to determine if candidates are qualified, not engaged in
demagogy, and free of foreign influence. Donald Trump has shown us that he
does not meet these standards. Please do your duty to protect the
country. Cast your vote for someone else.
AN EMOTIONAL MESSAGE:
Please consider casting your electoral vote for the
candidate who won the election by more than one million votes. It breaks
my heart that my democracy doesn't count each person's vote equally. You can
change this and make history by voting for the winner of the National Popular
Vote. thank you,
Someone emailed me that they felt "courage" was important to mention, so I started putting it in. |
