But now, my dear Bloggelinis, it is time for political action. Oh, wouldn't it be fine if Hilary Clinton were President right now? She would have been magnificent! She has so much of the military general in her. Let us not forget that it is the Electoral College that gave us Trump. And we can get rid of that horrid relic, yes we can. But that's for later. NOW when we desperately need a leader, America has been slapped in the face with the ultimate insult: Jared Kushner, who actually said publicly that government stockpiles are not for ... the people of the United States. The point is, as Rachel Maddow emphatically makes clear in her Rachel-Maddowish way: ONCE THE GOVERNMENT DELCLARES A NATIONAL EMERGENCY, IT IS LEGALLY OBLIGATED TO ORGANIZE THE RESPONSE TO THAT EMERGENCY! Maddow uses the example of the Hurricane Katrina catastrophe to help us understand what is happening now. Which is the same goddam thing. The Federal government was unbelievably uncaring and incompetent and many more people than necessary died as a result. HOWEVER EVENTUALLY Bush Jr. fired his good friend Brownie as head of FEMA (Brownie had prepared to run FEMA with a high post in the American Arabian Horse Association -- yes) and put an actual general in charge of the response to Katrina. Yes, too late, yes, very late. But ... BETTER LATE THAN NEVER! The entire world is facing the catastrophe of the Covid19 pandemic. But we in the U.S. are facing TWO catastrophes: The virus AND the complete and total failure of leadership by the Federal Government! Congress must intervene and DEMAND that Trump appoint someone to head the entire response who is capable of doing it! Congress has a duty to demand that the President obey the law! What HAS he done, besides appointing his son-in-law? He sent out a postcard to everyone. There is not a single phone number or website listed on the back of this postcard. Nothing. Trump to Americans: "Go fuck yourselves! I have better things to worry about than the pandemic -- like the STOCK MARKET! Oh, and how I can help the corporations make money out of this thing." It is time to make POLITICAL ACTION a PRIORITY! Yes, amuse yourself, comfort yourself, protect yourself, feed yourself. BUT ALSO CONTACT YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES TO DEMAND A TRUE LEADER TO ORGANIZE AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL! Otherwise, we risk becoming a failed state. Can you imagine that? Like Somalia. The difference being, that if we fail we run the risk of bringing down the rest of the world with us. PLEASE EMAIL AND PHONE YOUR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES! YOUR SENATORS AND CONGRESSPERSON!
